Role
Identity, Packaging
HINOKI makes eleven products out of a single workshop. The work covered the identity, the packaging architecture, and the rules that let the range grow without another redesign.
Brief
The range had grown one product at a time, each with its own label, and the shelf no longer read as one brand. They needed a structure that could absorb the next eleven products without the studio in the room.
Approach
We treated the label as a grid rather than a layout. Product name, volume and botanical source each hold a fixed position, so a new product becomes a set of values instead of a design decision. The mark is a divided square, one half solid and one half open, drawn at the same scale on every format.
System
A label grid that takes a new product in minutes
Four box sizes covering the full range
Ingredient typography set once and reused
A palette keyed to material rather than product family
Outcome
Six products have been added since the system was handed over, none of which came back to the studio. The workshop sets its own labels now.
